I have just picked up a 1997 cavalier 2.2 automatic. I got it for a sweet price, but I do have two questions...
1.) The transmission shifts like butter, but when you put the trans in gear, the entire motor and everything lean back almost touching the firewall, then moves back forward. I assume it is a transmission mount or something.
2.) The passenger side wheel is not centered. It is closer to the back of the wheel well. I want to say it is the control arm. the car did have a minor front end collision. Bad enough to set off the airbags, but not bad enough to bend the radiator support or anything like that. Windshield was replaced.
Any advice from the 2.2 OHV guys is helpful. This will be my beater for the upcoming winter season. I also want to make sure it is safe, because I will most likely give it to my younger sister after the winter months. Thanks.
I will put photo's up later. Might also be in the market for some parts as well, lol.
Probably a bent control arm or subframe. New motor mounts will fix your engine movement
Yeah. I hope it is NOT the subframe, but it did cross my mind, lol. I will not have any time to look at it til monday.
i agree with the above statements, new motor mounts will fix the movement BUT the cheapest and easiest mount to replace is the bottom torque mount that will stop ALOT of that movement
