Now that I got my stereo working, I'm on to my next problem, lol. The rear passenger side turn signal on my 2005 Chevy Cavalier does not work. It makes the funny accelerated blinker noise that indicates it isn't working. I tried switching out the bulb for a brand new one, this did nothing. So then I took the working bulb and black plastic housing from the other side and disconnected it and put it on the side that wasn't working, still nothing. Anybody have any ideas of what I can do or try to get this working again? I also have checked every fuse in the car that isn't one of those weird square black box type ones. All the minis left of the steering wheel have been checked, and all the rectangular (minis and on up in size) ones under the hood.
did ya check the front blinker bulb, usually when one blinks rapidly, its the one on the opposite end that is faulty.
I checked them all. All the turn signals work except for the rear passenger side. Although, when I checked this time, I noticed the front passenger side turn signal is blinking more rapidly than normal, and making the more rapid noise as well. So what does this mean, and how do I fix it?
I did not notice at first, but there are actually two bulbs behind orange plastic that both flash for your turn signal at the front of the car. The front right/passenger side one was flashing at an increased rate to indicate that one of these bulbs, the one farthest out towards the edge of the car has gone bad. But would this alone keep the turn signal in the rear from working as well? Or are the just both symptoms of a different or larger problem? I'll get a bulb for the front turn signal tomorrow, I'm hoping it fixes everything, but somehow I doubt it will...
Don't doubt it, It will fix it, I assure you. Whenever a bulb goes out, it affects that whole side of the car. This is the way most cars and trucks are designed. It is a good warning indicator telling you that you have a blown bulb. If it didn't do this, you would probably never know unless someone tells you. And most people don't care enough to do that.
Well 1 turn signal bulb, and two outside marker bulbs later, everything is working great.
And just so anybody who is interested knows, the turn signal bulb and the marker bulb are different sizes entirely. And the front and back marker bulbs are NOT the same number bulb, even though they are roughly the same size. And of the two lights that flash in the front when you turn your signal on, the one on the outside is the marker bulb. Amazing what you learn when stuff goes wrong on your car, lol. Thanks farmer for your advice and helping me out!
no problem, glad i could be such great assistance.
I have same problem, with right turn signal, but both front marker bulbs work. Replaced right front park/turn bulb, but problem still randomly occurs. Both R & L rear bulbs work. SO?? Do I just start replacing bulbs on right side to see if this goes away OR is switch at steering column bad??
