PCV Operation ('04 2.2)

I did a search on here and I couldn't really find the exact info i needed. I would like to know how the PCV system works on an 04 Cavalier 2.2 Ecotec. The reason I ask is becasue i have oil in my intake "box" and some sludge build up on the cap. I looked on AllData at an oil consumption TSB and it showed the bottom side of the valve cover (heat marks..? not sure what it said, I don't have the program at home) and it said to pull the intake off and see if a 5/64" drill bit fits in the PCV orfice between a couple runners (again, I'm not too sure on the exact wording). With the way I'm guessing it works, it seems like the hole on the intake manifold is plugged up, causeing pressure to build and blow oil through the hose from the vavle cover to the intake "box." I've read this is normal? I can't see how oil in the air intake tubes is normal...It's wet all the way until the tube starts going uphill to the air filter. Pretty good amount it seems to me (but I'm not using much oil).
But I'm having trouble picturing how it works. How the hose from the valve cover to the intake box are in relation to the orfice/hole on the back side of the intake manifold. I appreciate any help!

Fresh air is pulled into the motor from the hose on the valve cover, the air mixes with the crankcase vapors and gets "vacuumed" into the intake manifold through the orafice. What alldata is saying to check is the diameter of the orafice so proper ventillation is acheived.

Yeah, just pull the intake manifold off and check the hole, it isn't that hard.
