Hey I have a 98 z24 cavalier, 305 on the body. My keyless entry works perfect for unlocking the doors. But everytime I unlock the trunk It works the one pop, then the remote dies and doesn't do anything. I can unlock and lock the doors all day np but as soon as I hit the trunk it stops working. The trunk DOES pop but like I said then the remote stops working. I can sit there and reset I rite away and it works again but it's a pia cause only my drivers Side door lock works with the key and it's cold sitting in the parking lot waiting for the remote to reset lol. Has anyone had this problem before, should I go to the bone yard and get another black box for it? Help please lol I'm looking for a fix so it works normally. I know I could just run a +12v on a switch to the trunk. just kinda want it to work the way it's built to.
Pull your key fob apart and see if any of the circuitry is fried... Mine is now, only the trunk button works, no lock or unlock. Its pretty clear that the two non working buttons are fried.
I just had both apart to change both batteries and nothing was wrong. The remote is working fine, the trunk WILL open but only once. after that the both remotes don't work at all till I sit there, press and hold lock and unlock for 12 secs, doors then lock(reset) and I can unlock and lock my doors again. I can unlock and lock all I want, but the second I pop the trunk the remotes quit.

After reading all day trying to find an answer to my problem I noted that you cant open the trunk keyless when the car is running. Well you see when the remote stopped working the only way I could get in the trunk was reach around my 15" sub with a box that bairly fit and turn the end of the key hole twist thing (my trunk key doesn't work) lol so realizing I wasn't doing that everytime I wanted in my trunk, I wired up a loose wire off the black wire going to the unlocker so I could just tap the wire on my stereo cap positive. The thing is I know for sure the car was running more than a few times doing it. Does this mean I prob fried the little black box on the drives side under the Carpet or something in it?
I doubt doing that alone would have fried the brain. But it does seem like something else is wrong. Both remotes do the same thing?
Yeah both do remotes do the same thing. I have no engine codes. Just a airbag light and abs light
