What has to be done to relocate my battery to the trunk including how things get grounded and what u guys have done to successfully install urs....
Just get the right gauge wire to run, maybe a little bigger since you are adding distance. You can ground to the body in the trunk but I'd also still ground the same connections in front under the hood. Just pay attention to what you unhook and reconnect when you install the battery in the trunk. It isn't that hard to do.
I had a friend make me a battery tray, you can buy universal trays at part stores too. After removing my battery and stock tray I unbolted my fuse box and starter cable and soldered them to my new battery cable,18ft of 4g IIRC although I recommend using a bigger cable (numerically lower a 0g would be good). I ran my cable under my driver side kick panel after I cut a notch in the ribs, under the back seat and trunk carpet, then I cut a square the size of the battery tray and ran my cable to the battery. I grounded to the trunk after removing the paint and I used dielectric grease on the bolt. Hope this helps you
Thanks guys yeah it helps just one last question I see some people have had grounding issues after doin this are their specific things to look do or things that matter or should not be done....
Some people gave you some good suggestions here.
Yes you will run into ground issues if you remove the battery tray and forget to run a ground from the motor to the body.( Thats what I forgot to do) without a ground between the motor and body the current had no way of getting back to the battery and the altenator had to work extra hard to charge the battery and electrical system of the car. It eventually killed my alt and caused stalling problems. Thats bad!
My suggestion is make a good ground between the battery and the body in the trunk. And make a strong ground between the motor and the body. I ditched the stock body-motor ground wire along time ago so the shop installed a large "grounding strip" which actually looks kinda cool and carries current and voltage well back to the body of the car.
Also one final suggestion would be to add some jumper posts in the front. I added mine so it could be a mating point between the starter wire-the fusebox wire-and battery cable. It is also there just incase your car does need a jump.
Hope you dont mind me adding a pic of my setup...
When you move your battery you should go with a dry cell battery like a optima. This way the battery doesn't give off harmful fumes that are trapped inside the car.
