Help needed. IAC valve wont work :(

I have a Sunfire 2200 2002
I was driving through a parking lot one day at almost 5000 rpm and the second I let off I went to pull up to a stop and my car stalled. I started it and it would only start with WOT. Since then the car would not idle unless my foot was on the gas. So then I started replacing parts.
I replaced the IAC valve, after an attempt at cleaning it solved nothing. It started the first time, revved very high, and stabled out to idling at 1000 rpm (this is a manual car).Great I said, Then I shut the car off, and then attempted to start it again, it then did the same thing, wouldnt start unless I had it WOT.
I was baffled, and since then, Ive changed the throttle body, the injectors, the fuel rail, pressure regulator, spark plugs, wires, both coils (not the plates). Still with no luck. The only way I am able to run the car is if I have someone start the car, while I manually throttle the gas from under the hood, I push in the IAC valve with a screwdriver untill I dont need to give the car any throttle, I then unplug the IAC valve. It's the only way im able to run my car for the time being. I only have a miserable time to get it going in the morning since where I live its -25,

I read a few placed on the internet of a guide to reset the IAC valve by disconnecting the batterty, then plugging in the IAC valve, KOEO ffor 5 seconds, then key off for 10 seconds, then it should start and idle as its suppose to. Tried it, didnt work. To me it seems to be whatever is controlling the IAC valve, which would be the PCM most likely.

If anyone has any input that may help me it would be very much appreciated.
Duke

if you're having to re-open the valve every time you try to start the car, it sounds to me like you have a short to ground in the iac harness.

Sorry i wasnt very clear when I said that. I only had to manually open the valve once, with it plugged in and the car running. Once I pushed it in, and the car was idling normal...I unplugged the ICV valve and I have been running it unplugged ever since. It just doesnt idle good when it's very cold in the morning.

if you plug in the valve again, does it close all the way and stay there?

if I plug the valve again it stays in the same place as where I pushed it. It's only after I shut off the car, and then restart the car that the valve goes back out and the car wont idle properly once again.

Sounds like you need to take it somewhere, clearly you have adopted the parts swapper mentality. The other way to do it would be to hook it up to a bi-directional tool, which I am guessing you do not have. You could have paid the diag fee with one of the parts you swapped unless you just had all of that lying around. Sometimes a diag fee isn't bad considering you are having all the trouble trying to figure it out, and dont have the proper tools.

i should mention the last thing I said is what heppens when I plug it in with the engine running.

If I shut the car off, and plug the valve in (after I have already manually pushed the valve in), when I start the car the rpm goes up to about 3000 rpm and then idles down to normal rpm, but after I stall the car, and try to start it again, it then wont idle or run unless my foot stays on the gas.

Yeh that was my other idea, to drop it off at chev and have them go at it. It's just that I work at dodge so it shames my boss to see me bring my car there, even just the fact that i own a gm shames him

It's not costing me anything to try out any prarts though, my friend owns a scrap yard, it's just costing me the stress of bad results....
