heat problems

2002 cavy 2200 motor. i changed the coolant last year. now what it has been doing since then and only in the cold. it has to be decently cold. but the temputure guage will bearly go up if i have the heat on and stsy that way for hours of driving unless i shut the heat off. it will take aslong as an hour for my car to get to running temputure at times so i can turn the heat on without the temputure of the motor going back down. i dont get it. do i have air in the cooling system or a heater core going bad? only two things i can think of te thermostat is a year old. idk id appriciate your ideas. and how to bleed the air out. thanks

if the car has overheated since the thermostat was replaced it is likely to be stuck open

yeppp check the thermostat. probably a fail save one.. when it goes bad it fails open and gives you full coolant flow through the rad... as to failing shut and overheating.

The cheap thermostats tend to fail, had the same problem with one of my cars. Just buy the pricier one at advance auto. Usualy the Super Stant one.

no, you can't fix a thermostat. Replace it. It is cheap and take SLOCAV's advice. Same thing happened to me today and it was my thermostat as well.
