Hi this is my first post on here just wondering if you guys could help me with a problem I'm
having with my 97 Pontiac sunfire 2.2l. From the research I have done on here is how I know
It went out. My problem is that I can't find on here how to exactly do the bypass also what
Hose is it that I have to clamp up? Any pics would be greatly appreciated I know is cold
But I leave for the marine corps next month not to worried about replacing the HC now.

If you are planning on doing the heating core yourself I suggest doing it and getting it done as soon as ya can and not just bypassing it.. as you said you know its getting colder out.. driving the car with no heat is going to start issues with not being able to see out the windshield due to frosting over ect.. not to mention you really dont want to start ripping your car apart to do the work when the weather gets worse..

if you decide you want to bypass it regardless you will want to look behind the engine (roughly middle of car) just below the throttle body area ..

you will see two hoses about the same diameter as each other (maybe about the size of a dime, bit bigger?) going into the firewall and attached with those horrible little spring tension clips..

you have one of two options

One.. fight and struggle with those clips for a while trying to get them off using the plyers they make for them or normal plyers if you dont have them (auto zone has em for about 8 bucks)
then once those clips are pulled back far enough off of the heater core tubes fight to get the hoses off the heater core, they will be stuck pretty good due to time and heat...

two..find the end of the heater core necks by squeezing the hose, take a SHARP blade and cutting the hose (ALOT less time then above) then using a joint piece that looks like this to re connect the hose to itself..

hope that helps a bit..
