car turns over but no spark

I have a 1999 sunfire 2.2L and i took the motor and wiring harness out and put in a 1995 2.2L motor with a 1997 wirein harness. The car turns over but have no spark. I tryed a different coil pack and still no spark out of any of the spark plug wires. I was hopin some one could give me some ideas on what could be wrong.

the 99 2.2 has some significant differences from the 95 --- the 97 wiring harness has some significant differences from the 95 (OBD 2 vs OBD 1)

but i think you're dealing with theftlock... do a search on the theftlock procedure (As i can't recall it in entirety at this moment) and try that

if it is not the theftlock, then swap over your 1999 ignition control module and your 1999 crank sensor. Also make sure you swap the water/egr adapter from your 1999 over to your 1995 motor. The 95 used a vacuum egr system where the 96 and up used an electrical setup. The egr stuff will not stop the car from starting though.

I tryed to take the crank sensor of the 99 motor and the sener is small compared to the sensor on the 95 motor. the 95 sensor is realy long. And i dont think the theft system has anything to do with it cause the theft lights not on in the car. If i got a wiring harness for the 95 motor do u think that it would work the way it should or do u think all have the same problem. Im goin to have my buddy huke his tester up to it to see what codes it throws and see if i can figure anything out from that.

the shorter sensor will work fine. it has a stronger pickup. The 95 wiring harness will require a lot more changes... including the cluster, pcm and interior harness as well. Even the wires running all the way back to the fuel pump... AND the fuel pump...
