Another issue I need help resolving.

Alright well today I was going to install an aftermarket horn to make my audible warnings louder for other motorists. I disconnected the battery and after removing the factory horn I cut the wires to hook up the new horn. I re-hooked the battery and I tested it out. It was louder but (in my opinion) an ugly pitch. I decided to just see what it would sound like using the remote door lock to do the chirp. The doors worked fine but the horn did not chirp. Thus I removed the new horn and wired up the old horn again after disconnecting the battery again (safety first). Well I hooked up the battery again and tested out the factory horn which worked fine. I put everything back in place and drove it out of the shop back to the office thinking everything was fine. When I got out I tried to lock the doors with the key-less remote and it didn't do anything. I tried all the buttons (trunk, panic, unlock, lock) and none of them work. Could the remote just be dead or did I short something out by trying the new horn? Any help would be really appreciated!

BTW its a 2002 Cavalier 2.2 Coupe.

That was the first thing I tried.

I don't know but has anybody ever had their remotes need reprogramming to the car after disconnecting the battery? I have had the battery disconnected many times before but have never had anything go wrong with the remote. It's either that, or the horn being disconnected is some how tied into the BCM.

Not sure but sometimes in factory alarm systems there are settings where you can allow or not allow certain functions.... horn chirp, lights flash stuff like that. it usually has to be changed at the dealer with special equipment. I'm not sure if the cavy bcm's were this advanced or not but it may have reset itself.

Thanks everyone for your help. I am now convinced my car is haunted. LOL Problem fixed itself after about a week. Didn't do anything to it. This is like the 4th thing that magically corrects itself on the car after some time.
