Well I searched a few forums and really didnt find much for a 'how to' guide on the best way to clean and polish up the various metal surfaces we have in our Eco's.
I have a supercharger and intake from an 06 SS Cobalt that Im installing soon. I wanted to see what the best way would be to clean up the interior of them while out of the motor, but mostly the exterior.
I would like to scrub them clean, and then maybe even give them a mild polish to get rid of that stock 'boring metal' look.
What is the best cleaner you guys have noticed that works well on the external surfaces of the intake manifolds (LSJ's are metal obviously) and the supercharger itself. I recon I can use regular degreaser for the rest of the motor before installation just to clean it up abit.
so best brush type, cleaner, and metal polish both hand polish and for an air/power drill. Thanks guys! this will give me something to do with the parts until install day!

Are you asking how to polish?
mainly what the best method is to get a good surface clean then maybe a polish if i have time. i dont need it chrome-finished just a good smooth surface, maybe even a smooth enough surface to paint.

Well as far as cleaning it up, I prefer Castrol Superclean degreaser. Stuff works wonders. You can get gallon containers (I usually use this mixed with water in a large tub to soak things like heads and manifolds), or in a spray bottle. It'll clean up metal, your plastic fluid bottles, hoses, etc.
Strong enough that it took off nasty carbon build on some exhaust valves and combustion chambers on a head I cleaned up.
^ excellent. Ill have to see if one of the local auto stores carries that. I also want to maybe do a mild polish to the blower (dont care about the IM as long as its clean really). I need a thin wheel though cause those spots between the 'humps' are narrow. I just dont know what polishes up this metal very good since the only metal Ive ever polished up is by using that tin can of 'mothers' i think it was that turns the metal black, then you rub it with a cloth. Stuff was great!
