I'm trying to replace the crankshaft sensor on my sunfire (front of engine block) and this seemingly simple task has turned into a nightmare. When I took out the 8mm bolt I realized that it wouldn't budge at all. I thought this was suspicious so i did some homework and found out that the sensor is rusted shut. all the prying in the world hasn't gotten me any closer to popping it out. I tried a power drill but I can only drill diagonally due to the awkward position of the sensor.
Please help
I have read you can take a sheet metal screw and screw it into the sensor to use to grip it and pull it out.
Hope this helps.
I had this happen on a neon one time the sensor broke off in the block, I think I used a couple picks and pryed it out.
I have tried everything. PB Blaster, Easy-outs, there's very limited space to fit a drill in there... isn't it possible to remove the oil pan and get it from there?
Try rotating the sensor back and forth. The oil pan can be dropped to get access to it if my memory serves me right. Its been a few years since I have had to dive into a 2.4 though.
