Any help is greatly appreciated
Hey all. brand new to this forum and to cavaliers. I am getting ready to buy a 2000, 2.2 auto off a friend. I think it has this same problem. Sounds almost like an exhaust leak only on forward exceleration. Reverse seems normal, as does revving in park or neutral. Also does it break torquing in drive so I don't think it's any thing rubbing unless it's the torque converter. there also seams to be a little vibration associated with it. Very eager to find out what this could be. Can any one help us out.
Well I think I figured what mine noise is. The upper motor mount on passenger side the steel bracket from the motor side is only about an 1/8 inch from the steel on the frame part of mount. When I excellerate the torque motion causes the two to touch each other and motor vibrations are transfered into the chasis. Not sure what is causing it to be so close. Maybe the rubber insulater on that mount or the dog bone down low in the front. Need to investigate further. I can't figure out how to post pics here or I would.
It's good to know how you all fixed it, mine has a similar noise, mostly only when I turn to the right sharply, but sometimes just simply during acceleration. It really scares me to think it's a cv axle noise, but everyone thinks the axles and front end are all fine.
Recently I repaired the exhaust system, and it does seem like it's too close to heat shields, and loose enough to hit them, but the noise seems to be closer to the front.
I seem to have a similar problem on 2004 Cavalier LS sport. In July of 2010 my pads were wore out so I cheaped out and just bought pads, and not rotors too. I first started hearing a noise when I was breaking in August of 2011, so I bought and installed new rotors thinking that was probably what was causing the problem, but it didn't. Here's whats going on: When I brake and have the wheel turned to the right I hear a rubbing noise from the right front wheel. My car has about 60,000 miles on it, any idea what might cause this problem? Again only does it when I'm braking and have the wheel turned to the right.
