So about a little over a year and a half ago the wife's car was having issues starting with the key, however it starts just fine with the remote start.
Took it to a local shop who said we had to take it to Pontiac. Pontiac said it was the motherboard and fixed that. About 3 months after that, it started doing the same thing and Pontiac then replaced the ignition control (pretty sure it was something with the ignition)?
Well the darn thing is doing it again and I am fed up.... probably just going to use the remote start, anyone have issues with this before?
Take it back. Obviously what GM is doing (fixing the motherboard and replacing the ignition control) isn't working so demand that they fix it right for free this time. I would have gone back when it stopping working again and demanded they do it over again or a refund. Good luck!
Do you always use the same key?
If so and you have a second key try that one.
when you use the key what happens...no crank, cranks but no start or starts then stalls? Does the security telltale stay on after a no start?
the key other than mechanical cut does nothing in passlock systems...passkey yes but passlock no.
We have 2 separate keys. Normal keys, nothing special about them.
No crank what so ever when trying to use the key to start. I believe the "security" light comes on the dashboard when you try to start it.
check for theft deterrent codes... is a b2947 set? You will need a scan tool that can access the body control module.
