U1000 class 2 communication.
Friday, March 02, 2012 5:28 PM
I just swapped my 99 computer and harness for one from a 01.

I have hooked up hpt to log some runs and I'm getting the u1000 class 2 communication malfunction.

Anyone have any info on where to look first?

I checked every fuse to male sure none are bad.

Not sure if its related but I don't have ABS or either air bag hooked up.

The car runs fine an there the cel isn't on.

its fine its a fault that HPT does to it

my car gets that fault only when hpt is hooked up. if you watch your cluster all the gauges restet and idiot lights come on then go away.

i don't have ABS period and my airbags aren't done yet

wouldn't worry about it bud its just the HPT modual causing a data conflict

How can I tune it once the Turbo is on if I can't communicate with the computer ...

The system is looking for modules that it isn't seeing. Make sure that everything you swapped over is compatible with what was left in place.

Everything bumper to bumper was replaced minus the ignition switch. I confirmed they are the same for a 99 and the 01 I ordered one for each for from two different places and got the same part with the same same part number at both stores.

Almost sounds like its from not finding the ABS module whic uses class 2 communications as well.

I have the resistors to put in place of the.airbags so that should fix that.issue.

The.biggest problem to all of this is that in Arizona we have to do emissions tests and all they do is read the computer to make sure there are no trouble codes. I have already verified that the disabled ABS and airbags are not an issue as they aren't doing any type of safety check.

When I went the other day the computer was in a not ready state. Not sure if that's from the communication malfunction or due to the fact I just connected the battery the morning of the test and only drove about 45 miles and had 3 heat cycles.
