Trans acting up, codes found!

2001 Cavalier, 3-speed auto, 147k miles.

I looked around this forum, and there are some threads but not that similar, and they don't seem to pertain to what I am finding. Apologies if I missed any (or didn't understand well).

A scan found some codes that might diagnose:
P0705 Trans Range Sensor Circuit
P0122 TP or App sensor circuit short/low

The car works normal almost all the time, but once in a while a bunch of issues pop up.

Usually it happens after a quick stop or even a slow down. The trans will not shift up, the car will have a hard time accelerating similar to how it is if you leave the parking brake on, then, if it does decide to shift, it shifts with a hard BANG. Sometimes it won't get out of gear at a stop, and stalls. Sometimes it just quits as you drive.
This started about 6 months ago. Stopping, shifting in to park and back gives the same hard BANG into gear, if it goes.

To remedy the problem all I ever have to do is turn the car off, wait about 5 seconds, and turn it back on again, then it works normally again.

What is the P0705, and can this be reset or replaced? Does the P0122 contribute to this?

Thanks I really appreciate any pointers in the right direction.

I forgot something, when this happens, the Check Engine is usually on, and some times, the Trac light is on too, although sometimes it's only the Trac light.

throttle positio sensor replace

transmissioin range switch replace

trac light is related to the ABS system, you may have a wheel sensor starting to fail

the trac control system will be disabled when certain powertrain problems occur.
The system will be unable to perform torque reduction requests when these powertrain codes are set; so it disables the trac control system and turns of the trac light. If you can read chassis dtc post that code.

If your scan tool can't read chassis codes fix the p-code issues first and it might correct the tcs problems.

it the trans thinks its in manual 1 or 2 position it will also set the trac light on.
