so my 1998 z24 just started loosing power and missing as i was driving down the road, there is no check engine light but the service light is on, iv noticed that if i drive easy and dont accelerate to fast it dosnt do it, but if i push the pedal down to hard it kida of sounds like its missing and loses all power iv changed the fuel filer snd all the spark plugs, im thinking maybe the coil pack or a vacuum line? PLEASE HELP!
I'd guess at the coil pack. I've seen a lot of that when wires are bad... but of course, no wires for you.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
I hope that is the problem but I don't have another on hand to find out.
or a TP sensor.
Straight lines are over-rated In My Opinion =]
Sounds like your cat to me. If it turns red when your accelerting hard then this is it.
does the CEL flash or any lights flash on the dash when it does this? if so its ignition related.
Throttle position sensor or a bad EGR valve is where Id start. Not hard to fix and not money eating with the prices.
I have had the exact same thing happen to me on two cars. Both times I had to change the cat. When your accelerating hard in nutral or park try to look under your car at the cat.m if it turns red you will know. Or have someone smell your exhaust for you. If it smells bad then t is more then likely your cat.
Just to add to the convertor if blocked it will change color as said and egg smell is a good sign.If yours has the original and higher mileage, you could cut it out and run straight pipe to see if this clears it up.Cats normally kill power and run like it want to backfire.Check your basics and if your cat has over 100k it probably is in need of a change out.Just a thought
Check the resistance Your coil is the c852.
HERE is a link. Also take your ICM to advance or autozone and they can hook it to a wells tester. If you also have no way of testing it, then ask to use a ohmmeter as well. I recently had a similar problem and it was one of my coil packs. I had no power when trying to accelerate and it was intermittent. I had no resistance at the secondary check.

I´m really sorry but I´m new on this, what is the cat? is the one located after the catalic converter towards the muffler?

the "cat" is the catalytic converter.
