Hi Gang -
Well, got the starter fixed. Not 100km later the fuel pump has died. The car has 170,000km. What other issues can be expected around this mileage? (2003 ecotec z24, manual) I hate to keep putting money into what is starting to look like a bottomless pit.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks.
lol
I know I'm going to get completely flamed here, but I've got a Honda Civic in the laneway with 220,000km. I've never had to do a thing to it aside from brakes/tires & timing chain and it runs perfectly.
Ah well, it's not as comfortable though. : /
my 04 cavalier (ecotec) didnt have a single thing wrong with it until 170,000 miles. the clutch master cylinder went out.
you may have little things go out like:
reverse sensor (your reverse lights wont come on when you put it in reverse) - easy cheap sensor fix
coolant temperature sensor (your fan may not kick on because the computer cant read the temps) - easy cheap sensor fix
relays/fuses start going out for various parts.
starter - you already replaced that
coolant/radiator fan motor - $25 at the local parts store
fuel pump is fairly easy - upgraded mine for the boosted setup but they usually last quite a while
if you take care of it things dont go out that often. but a lot of these cars sit for periods of time that corrode or crack lines and stuff and ppl think its the car. but its the lack of maintenance people do to their cars.
i wouldnt bash the GM product until you know a well taken care of car breaks constantly. if it does, then you got yourself an American made lemon. But ive had 14 cars, almost all domestic, and had generic mechanical failures that are easy do it yourself fixes.
