I have a slave cylinder I need to replace on a 98 cavalier any suggestions if I should do it myself or get it done professionally done?

transmission has to come out of the car to do it. if you can remove the transmission, then do it. if not, then have someone else do it.

I guess I'm just trying to figure out if its a easy fix or not I don't know anything when it comes to that. Can I even drie the car? Someoone told me if I got a push while in first gear that it'll go after that. Need some feedback.

My slave also went out on me awhile back i was able to keep on the road for a cpl weeks by buying a one man bleeder kit and keeping a large container of brake fluid in the car.Did not always come down to bleeding it everytime, usually but not always over night would require a bleed but during the day i was able to keep the reservoir topped up so it didnt have to. Bleeding it out is super easy really with the lil one man kit i think i got at vip <5$. Your results may vary according to how badly yours is blownout/leaking however. And yes you could in theory get by being push started and then using the right rpm to shift but then you come to a stoplight or sign ...at the bottom of a hill........or a pedestrian...you get the picture...without the proper tools and the place to do it and some knowhow into removing an engine/trans...no its not easy by any mean

Thanks for the help! Yeah I bought this car from a guy and he said it was just the slave cyclinder and I just want to get it to my house. The only bad part is that I live in florida...no hills haha he only lives a couple blocks away so I'm hoping I hit all green lights. But ill try the bleeding kit. He said it might just need fluid but he wasn't sure. Anyy info is helpfull thanks guys. Eventually I want to tune it and everything. It already has cold air intake so thatsa small start.
