more questions about my 97 Z

alright then, question time:

My hood release cable is destroyed (a battery seems to have exploded on the PO and corroded both the battery tray and the cable for the hood). I've been using a set of pliers to grasp the cable inside and pull, but I have a feeling eventually what is left of the cable will just snap. So my question is, where do I get this piece (I've only found up to a 95 online, and not a Z)? do you think I'd be easy to pull from a junkyard car? also....think it'd be a b***h to install or no?

Because of the above, I'm looking to relocate my battery into my trunk as well. What do I need to do this? Also, again, how hard is this to do?

Why is it so impossible to find clear bumper lenses/fog lights (w/housings)?

Currently my Z24 badge is silver (and looks like crap). It needs to be repainted, and I've been tossing around the idea of doing it the same blue as my Rotas and interior accents. Thoughts?

I think that's all for now..Thanks

May the odds be ever in you favor.....

Could get a cable from salvage yard.probably a bit of a pain to change. As for battery relocate, someone was selling a kit in the classifieds that included battery box (vented), mounts and 0 gauge wire to run to the engine. And clear lenses just arent made as much as they were before. I have clears, i didnt buy them but the receipt shows them coming from some place in cali but this would have been a few years ago. And my car us de baged aside from the side moulding... i kinda want to see mine in black or blue..

the hood pull cable is an easy find. its not something that really "goes out" on our cars so finding a good one in any year 95-05 j-body should be pretty easily done in any junkyard. hit up car-part.com if you dont want to find one locally. or simply go to ebay, ive bought a brand new GM hood pull off there for like $28 shipped iirc. there isnt one for a z24 specifically. they are all the same from base model on up. pretty sure every year is indentical too.

the bumper lenses are hard to find because apc was really the only one who made them for years and and years. their supply dried up a few years back, unfortunately.

however... i have found what i hope to be a replacment... andy's auto sport i would call them and confirm they actually do have em though. the biggest plus here is the picture they show. its a legit item and is the correct shape. even looks different than the apc version so thats another plus that they are actually real.

here's a pic....

new question:

Sometimes (not always), my z will stale when I go from park into gear. It normally happens in reverse, tho it's been happening going into drive as well. First thing I figure is it's not getting enough fuel, so maybe something with my fuel pump/filter? Suggestions?

in the string of 'my monster hates me' questions, i have another:

she's still acting weird: bad acceleration (sometimes I have to rev to nearly the limiter to get out of my driveway/get moving, and her tac is still doing the jumping thing when you let off the gas/let her idle.

So far I've done: plugs, boots, coils, ICM, fuel filter and just did an oil change...i'm completely stumped....
