Ecotec swap no start need help!
Monday, September 03, 2012 6:35 PM
Ok I've just completed my ecotec swap in my 2001 Z24, the motor is from an 03 cavalier and has about 175 psi of compression in all cylinders, the engine harness and computer are from an 03 cavalier as well.

I've completed the passlock relearn successfully, and the car will start but it will not run. I have verified that I am getting spark and i'm getting fuel to the rail by pushing in the schraeder valve, I will get a fuel pressure gauge the next time I go down to the parts store. I've checked all my grounds and made sure all the important connectors are plugged in. I guess my next step will be to get a noid light and test the injectors to make sure they are firing and also get a fuel pressure gauge to verify i've got enough fuel pressure.

Does any one else have any other suggestions that I should look at? i've also got a GM Tech2 at my disposal.

Thanks, Dan

And when I pulled the spark plugs there was no fuel on them nor did they smell like fuel, I'm beginning to think it's a fuel issue

Well I tinkered around with some things, I had an extra fuel pressure regulator that i had laying around, poured a little bit of fuel into the throttle body and it starts and runs just fine. Maybe I just didn't have the fuel primed enough, or maybe the diapraghm in the other fuel pressure regulator was bad and just sending all the fuel back to the tank through the return line, I have no Idea but i'm just glad it's running!
