Ok i'll start in the begining, car stopped running on the way to work and just puked out.. I found the fuel pump was'nt running and so i kicked the gas tank a few times and it started to run again.. Got it home and it puked again, so i pulled the tank replaced the pump, filter and wiring harness end with the upgraded on.. Now i turn the key and hear the pump come on for like 2 secounds and stop, but its not pumping any fuel whatsoever no matter how many times i cycle the key and i even tried filling the tank.. What is stopping it from pumping fuel, oh and this is new pump #2. I had it replaced by the parts store the first time cause i thought the pump was bad outa the box.. Im sure sombody has had this problem, so if so please help me out so i can get this car fixed already..
Oh and the car is a 2004 cavalier, with the 2.2 ecotech and auto trans..
It's very normal for the fuel pump to prime for 2 seconds with the key on and then shut off... that's what it does.
It sounds like you have air in there that it cant push out. Have you tried bleeding the fuel system or priming the fuel pump with the rail or fuel filter disconnected to see if fuel is being primed out of the tank?
I'll be in this same boat very soon as my tank is currently on the floor with a racetronix & harness going in.

Also do yourself a favour - I just experienced this.
Check the FP / INJ fuse on the internal fuse block just inside the driver door - it's a blue 15a fuse, bottom row, 2nd one from the firewall.
2 hours of troubleshooting down the drain over a damn fuse. I wasn't impressed.

Good one, I wouldn't have thought of that.

I am having a nearly identical problem. Did you ever get a resolution to this?
did you get the lil hose on top of the fuel pump on there tight (all ways forget its name know it starts with a v)
that caused mine to do it
Did you put gas back in it?
Stupid question, I know.. but as my wife likes to remind me, I did it once too.
I think Chris is talking about the venturi hose. its the little hose that has to be tighter than a straight mans sphinctre in a richard simons workout video. I had to drop my fuel tank 3 times upgrading my fuel pump to the Wbody and harness. Kept breaking the stuipd fuel pump assembly lines. Eventually its working fine, but it does have to prime for a few seconds. if I just turn it off and back on within 10-15 minutes or so it dies after the first start unless i pump the gas once or twice.
i second the venturi line not being tight enough and letting fuel seep back into the pump overflow tank
