Hey I just bought a 2000 Z24 that wasn't working (I know it wasn't very smart). The guy said it just needed a battery and a MAP sensor. But when I start the car it runs for a second then shuts off. The fuel pump is OK because I can hear it running when I turn the key on. I have been researching this problem on the internet and I think it is a problem with the passlock. There is no security light on(what does a security light look like) I read that I could wire in a resistor (I used a 2.2K resistor) from the yellow wire going to the BCM to black wire that is under the ignition (cut the yellow wire first). When I was finished doing this I started the car and it ran for about four seconds then died and it wouldn't start back up wouldn't even turn over. So I took out the resistor and hooked the yellow wire back together and it would only run for a second. I have tried the factory relearn procedure and it doesn't do anything. The car stays running if I spray carb cleaner in the throttle body.

Has anyone had a problem like this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well no fuel is obvious, the security light is a dummy light in the cluster, it says security.

Ok there is no security light on. I also just did a test for the lock cylinder and its working. If there is no security light on does that mean my problem has nothing to do with the passlock.
