So, I was going to change my timing chain and i pulled the crank pulley off of my 2.2 but behind the pulley, there was this triangle piece that the harmonic balancer puller bolts to(couldnt think of a name for it)...i tried getting it off, and i can NOT get it off to save my life. Anybody have some suggestions, or super-tricks how to get it off? I can't see how it wouldnt come off. It has to come off to get the timing cover off

bump...
I've tried putting a 1/2 drive impact on the puller, and it still didnt budge...should i just get a long breaker bar, and give it hell?

It shouldn't require that much force. Normally a good impact will break it loose.

The one I did came right off with an impact. Try spraying whatever you have for penetrating oil in there overnight?

I suppose next time i get to my friends shop, i will spray some penetrating oil on there, and give it hell...wasnt sure if using an impact could mess up my crank. Thanks.

I'd do the penetrating oil. Also... have you spun that thing around to check and see if it's got a set screw in there by chance? A surprise set screw will make that awfully hard to pull off there.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick

I'll check for that too
