window woes

So, I have a 1996 Cav Convertible and I seem to be having a major problem. The drivers side window is all the way down and will not go back up. I tried using the switch from my coupe, but still I have nothing. When I took the door panel off I can hear a quick click from the motor in either direction but no movement. I even tried wiggling the window from the bottom as I hit the switch but nothing is working. I really need to get the window up since it is supposed to rain sometime tomorrow and I don't have a garage that I can put it it. If anyone has any ideas please post them. I would be happy just some how being able to force the window up and I would be happy.

I've got the same issue right now... my motor's dead. If the motor's pooched... then nothing will help you short of removing the regulator and manually moving the window up... but with no regulator, it's just going to drop back down.

You can try connecting +12V and ground directly to the motor connections... there should be a dark blue and a brown wire to the motor. Connect the dark blue to positive, the brown to ground. Should go up, if the motor's still any good.

I tried connecting the motor directly to the battery but it still.didn't move. I got a new motor that I will be putting in tomorrow and hope that it works... Otherwise I guess I will be bringing it into a shop on Monday.

Well, I guess on the plus side it had been replaced before so it is just bolted in and not riveted any more.

Sometimes you can tap the motor to get it to move. We had a lady come in one time to have her window put up because her motor went bad and she didn't want to fix it. I just taped the motor will a small hammer and it went up on it's own.

Well, got the new one in, only took about an hour to do. Just have to do it 2 more times on my car. Both windows seem to be a little sluggish.
