valve train noise???

Hey guys i just picked up a 97 cavy to daily. It has the 2.2ohv. The noise is at idle and slight rpms and the best way to describe it is a sewing machine. im very good with cars and diesels as i have one lol. So is this ticking normal for the 2.2ohv??? because i had a 95 s10 with this motor and it never sounded like this. The car runs perfect and drives great it just has this noise. I just want to know what my options are is it normal? should i get a junkyard head and throw it on. the noise just bugs me more then anything. if i go junkyard route im going to be slightly porting and upgrading the valve train if i do that. im just curious if this is normal for this motor. also would adjusting the valves help possibly or is it a failed lifter that i should get on fixing asap? thanks in advance for answering my questions.

More then likely with the Ln2 2.2 the noise you are describing is a timing chain tensioner..... usually and i say usually these valve trains dont fail unless they are heavily beat on or neglected...... if you want to pull off your valve cover the spec for the rockers is 22 ft/lbs or close
