I recently swapped a 01 cavalier motor and 5 speed trans into a 97 cavalier. I swapped the pcm, engine harness shifter etc... having problems with the security theft device. anyone know what I should do??????
Swap in a engine harness and pcm out of a 98-99 2200 car in there. The 01 PCM is looking for a BCM, which your older car doesn't have (you would have to rewire your entire car to make one work).
I still have my donor car and was going to swap interior harness, ignition, and Bcm over. Would I be able to do this without switching the fuel pump?

This might sound silly, but look up the part numbers on the fuel pumps for the 01 and 97 to see if theyre the same. Maybe that will give you your answer

01 and 97 fuel level senders are different resistances.
You're going to end up swapping the entire electrical system... if you choose to go down that route.
