I have an 01 chevy cavalier 2.4 liter automatic.
I have just removed my oil pan and oil pump. I have spun no.1 and no. 4 bearings. I would like to just put a new crank and bearings in. Is it possible to slide the trans back far enough in the car to get to the inner bolts on the flex plate? That i believe would be the only thing holding me back from getting the crank out. I want to try and avoid removing the engine if possible.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Nope, you would back me into the trans
Sorry autocorrect. You would back the bolts into the trans.. They wouldn't come out all the way
Now that is funny. Great auto correct. Thank you Jason.
you do realize the other end of the crank is in timing chain cover and that has to be removed to drop the crank. tried it did it lots of work
doesn't matter if you cant get the bolts off the flex plate or clutch....
nope. you would either need to remove the engine completely (honestly, the easiest) or remove the trans completely. if you do the trans option you'll be tearing the timing components all down in the car as well which is another nightmare in itself, so... I highly suggest just pulling the motor completely.
RIP silver car. You will be missed.
