So I have a 2001 z24. 2.4L 5 speed. Just put a brand new motor & entire GM clutch system in...but been having issues with 5 gear grinding then 3rd gear wouldn't go in 80% of the time all the way,, that'd grind pretty harsh.
well yesterday I shifted to 4th and I have nothing. . the shifter is all slack.
It looked the gear shifter thing/gear selector on the transmission where the 2 shifter cables connect to popped out maybe a 1/8 inch.
Has anyone had this problem or know best way of replacing that piece or the actual name of it??
Thanks guys
Sounds like something may have happened with the shift cables. Another possibility which I don't know it could've happened but grinding usually means the syncros are damaged. But my first thought would be to get those cables in order
