Engine compatibility. possible rwd or 4x4?

Hey guys I have a 97 cav and im looking to upgrade it to a different engine. I really would like to have an option of RWD or 4x4. To my knowledge this is not possible.

Out of curiosity what other, bigger, engines would fit comfortably into the cav.

The question is, what are your skils and what do you have access to? I listed these particular threads because there is a lot of information on each, and they are listed in order from most complex to lease complex.

Thanks for the responses. I have quite a lot of resources at my disposal. Money is tight but i know where the good deals are so that's not a problem.

Awe man that RWD cav is a jaw dropper! If that was me id lift it and put a transfer case in it. haha
