Car veers on its own left/right

Hey all, 2004 cavalier 4dr Ls sport auto, veers on its own. Its a strange feeling when you are going straight, the car will randomly pull left. It will also go to the right, but not as bad as left. The steering wheel will be completely straight when it does this as well, giving it a very loose steering feel. The tires were bad so we just replaced those today, and it still happens. Put 225/50/16 tires on it and it honestly feels like that made it a little worse as if its getting more grip to veer.

Any ideas where to start? Thanks!

My first though is rack and pinion bushings.

On a good level road that is smooth, apply the brakes normally and see if it goes to one side.2nd it could be your alignment is out of adjustment and along with the comments made, various parts could be worn in your suspension.I would jack up the front end, remove the front wheels and rock each front hub back and forth for wheel bearing play.Next is check your tierods and your rack/pinion for any leaks or slop by pulling it.The strut check is simple with the wheels on of course push down on each fender and see if you have more than one bounce up and down. This is not a true check as strut can be worn out and not bounce beyond normal, however once removed if the strut can be compressed with ease minus the spring in place (worn strut) and check your strut mounts for cracked areas or loose hardware.Just some simple ideas to check things prior to taking it to a shop and or doing the work yourself.Cost of checking these takes under 30 minutes in general and Free!
