So this is my first post and I have choice to make. I have a wrecked 97 cavalier 2 door with and manual transmission I got rearended engine and tranny are fine I'm looking at a 4 door 97 cavalier body with a shot engine and an automatic that's for sale for dirt cheap how hard would it be to swap the motor and tranny from a stickshift to an automatic?
If it came stock with the same engine I think you should be good there. The transmission is a little tougher. You'll need to install the clutch pedal, all of the mounting holes should be on the firewall already. Then you'll need to trick the computer into thinking that the automatic is in neutral, sorry but I'm not sure how to do that on a cavy. That's pretty much the very basics of it.
