Hey everybody - my father in-law has an 88 Cavalier Z24 with 2.8.
It cranks but won't start. He is getting fuel and spark. It ran for a few seconds while spraying starter fluid but it won't run.
We replaced the fuel filter yesterday and fue is getting up to the fuel rail.
It seems to be kind of intermittent. He said sometimes it will start if it wants to, but not often. It has never shut off on him if it's running.
He has a Haynes manual but he said it wasn't much help. I have not looked at the manual.
Can we check the fuel pressure at the schrader with a regular air pressure gauge? If so - what should the pressure be?
Any other thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks,
Rick
