Can I put ethanol or methanol whatever it is, in my car without changing anything? any advantages? Just wondering!

I think your talking about the E-85, its a gas made form corn. You will get a loss in power but it does have its advantages, at the independant shop we were a shop recomended by the emisions test center, if a car failed but was really close 9 times out of 10 a few gallons of E-85 and drive it around for a bit to get it nice and hot and it would pass. Its a cleaner burning gas thats about it though, no advantages performance wise, just emssions wise. I wouldn't recomend it for any other usethen to try to get past emisions
Is it cheaper? Been a long time since I've seen it. I drive a LOT of highway ( I drive 40,000km per year and 80% of it is highway ) where I don't need extra power. If so I'll run on it more often! I guess it cleans the whole system a bit also?

it's a very high octane fuel, so the PCM will advance timing, i've seen 50 degrees. high compression would compliment it intensively, giving you a power increase.
some things to look into are damning any rubber fuel lines, the methanol is even more destructive to rubber lines and the lining of your gas tank.
What's the point on a stock car? If you rebuild the engine then I could see advantages but not stock. It's like running 93 octane gas, you feel great about putting it in, but our cars were designed for regular.

Actually I was more talking about E-10, the gas blended with 10% ethanol. I put 89octane E-10 for 3cents cheaper per LITER ( about 15cents per gallon ) than unleaded 87. Ive read a bit about E-10 and it seems like it;s actually better for our cars, acting like an antifreeze, burning up 100% therefore leaving no residues, and being more environmentally friendly which I think is a big plus. I'll see if I get any MPG increase, Im driving 500km today, all highway, Ottawa to Quebec city.

where do you fill up you car ? cause it'S been a while i havent seen ethanol gas around here (mirabel,québec) and the only place ive ever seen it was olco!!
i livein in iowa home of corn, ethanol is at every pump now. and since i've been diriving i have used it and have never noticed any probelms withit yet.
It increases combustion temp, and you LOSE power with it on a stock motor, mainly in the winter.
After owning a factory turbo car, I know the negative effects.
I use Shell gas whenever possible, why?, becuase it is the most PURE gas I know of.
Octane ratining is one thing that IS important, but they all do it.
If you want, or need the best fuel, gas up at a local airfield with aviation grade before you hit the track, granted it does cost, (so if you are stock, no FI, don't bother).
Just a 'lil $.02 from me.

I say run what you think is beneificial to your car, whatever the choice may be, after all, you know your baby best.
my car seems to run best on shell gasoline. i would use it all the time if it werent so expensive in my area. its funny how in the austin area, a lot of times its the CHEAPEST gas available.

in canada most of our fuel is blended up to 10% ethanol. Works for me
