My cav has a sqeek when I turn on the heater. It seems to be just going dead is this a motor in the dash or a bearing in the fan...Is this something I can do or is it a dealer job.

I need my heater working because I live in Northern Canada

under the dash on the passenger side, take the 3 screws out of the fan and drop it down, look up inside there and make sure there is no leaves or garbage up there.. then have someone hold onto the body of the fan (not the blades and please be careful) and turn it on to see if it works right in all speeds..the motor is a very easy thing to replace if its bad... but check for garbage in it first...
