Well, pulled the cav out of storage the other day and removed my battery cuz it looked gross underneath, well look at what I found. Water or something got under the battery and made the little battery tray or battery shelf all rusted and horrible looking.

Can this thing be removed? I have to do something with it, because it looks terrible.


Excuse the dirty engine bay, I am working on it.

Looks like your batery leaked acid. To verify, throw some baking soda on the tray. If it bubbles, it's acid. You should be able to remove the tray with a few bolts. I'd almost buy a new one as opposed to trying to save that one....

it was caused by a leaking battery. I recommend POR-15 to restore the tray.

Is there anyway to remove it tho. I didnt see any bolts really, I am assuming it's welding down to the car which sucks. If I could get it out I could maybe sand blast it and re paint it.

I don't know if you can remove it but you could use the por-15 in chassis he is the web site http://www.por15.com/ check it out it works realy good.

Its spot welded in. Your not going to move it without cutting. I had a battery leak so I went to discount and bought some battery acid neutralizer. Then sanded the mess out of it, prepped it, primered and painted.

Glue a penny between the terminals in the middle of the battery top. Battery acid will move towards the penny and disolve it till its gone. But your terminals will stay clean. Then when the penny is gone, glue another one there.
