Hello
Where's the drain plug for a 5 speed transmission in a 04 Sunfire?
Was just underneath and I cant find it.
Was going to change the fluid. The manual says to use dextron 3 auto transmission fluid. I put up a similar post months ago and some members confirmed it.
Just double checking. Is the dextron 3 the correct fluid?
Thanks

Dont think there is one. you have to remove the bolts that hold the pan on.
Hello
There is no pan. It's solid aluminum.
Walt
ok, found this somewhere, how bout this
sorry for the huge image
It's on the underside of the transmission towards the driver side of the car. You need a hex head to get it off. What fluid do you plan on putting in there.
Hey man
Perfect !!
Thanks
Walt
ps Plan on putting in the dextron III. I put up another post on tough shifting into 1 st gear. I just want to be sue there is the right fluid at the right level in the transmission.
Do youself a favor and put in the B&M synthetic trick shift ATF. If you having a hard shifting problem it will take care of it. If your also getting the famous getrag rattle, put in just over 2.5qts If you do that you'll have to fill it from the red vent cap on top of the tranny. This overfills the transmission and keeps the rattle down. That's GM's brilliant fix for it.
Thansk for thepost
So basically it is thinner so it shifts easier?
How is synthetic fluid on the transmission seals.?
Will it leak out easier with age?
Any chance it will deteriorate over time.?
That being asked , I just might try it.
My shifts are pretty stiff in th ewinter. Toronto, Canada
Gets down to -30C /0 degrees F often enough.
