hey guys hows it going....i have a 98 sunfireGT.....2.4.....and i have this freakin hesitation usually in first gear right when i am taking off......5 speed.......i had @!#$y aftermarket plugs in it...but bit the bullet and bought the delcos......and also swapped my vavlve cover with coils with another car from my work.......still doing it.....just wondering if anyone else has had similar problems.......kinda sounds like EGR, but not even sure if it has one......

You do have an egr but I dont think that is your problem. I would say it could be fuel related perhaps injector/pump/ or fuel line. Are you sure you have the same as stock plugs back in?

Yes officer I knew the speed limit was 50

I've got the same problem both in first and second gears. I've got the delco platinums (97 Z24), thought it might be injector problems too, haven't had time to check it out however. Thing is, it's intermitant, so I'm not worryin' too much just yet

yeah i do have the platinums in.....delcos....what makes you say it is fuel related....

If it were electrical it would happen at higher RPM's aswell. I'm gonna clean my injectors out and see if that helps, they do get dirty... Out of curiosity what octane fuel do you use?

Not necessarily. My friend had a similar problem in his Daewoo, and it was fine at high RPM. Problem was a bad electrical connection in his ignition wiring.

Well 2.4's don't have all that much ignition wireing, the coil packs are right on top of the plugs, there's not much room for error there...I've been useing 91 or 94 octane , but I've shaved the head some and am running higher compression due to that, didn't want any detonation happening. Still think it's a injector problem...

I had this same problem, you should use the NGK TR55 plugs. Another thing, check you vacume hoses. Especially the one going to the evap canister and the one from the TB to the vacume check valve located right in front of the AC compressor. If the problem still persists, take the injector harness off, and bend the connectors on the plug down a little bit. This should fix your problem.

I'm getting this too actually...

the funny thing is, I just put a new exhaust ( cat back ) on too, and I don't remeber it really happening before I put it on

It's like it bogs out when I'm starting off in first, but if I give it a good rev it seems to fix itself up...

I also only notice it when I first start the car up, when I am sitting at lights it doesn't give me problems...

Might as well clean out the egr passage. It could be stuck open.

i had the exact same problem and fixed it wasnt hard!

Your Coil Bracket is most likely bad (its the white plastic thing screwed to the IDI cover and has Metal Plugs coming out of into motor) It might not look like anytng is wrong with it... but this is reeally no way to tell. When the motor bogs does it make like spark clicking noises? if it does i can tell you now its the Coil Bracket for sure.

Does the bad idle get worse when you turn the A/C on? it should, if it does it means its something in the coil-spark area

also something dumb check your spark plug gap, mine jumped to .70 somehow and the car ran like crap, exact same problem. Gaped to .40 problem solved. Check it LD9 is senstive to spark plug gaps

well seems like theis problem is going around. mine was bogging down when taking off. really bad when the a/c was on. but it was like that for about a year straight. now just today i cant rev past 4000rpm. and it has no power whats so ever. i noticed black smoke last week when taking off hard to get on the street. so im pretty sure its the plugs but is there any other idea what may be wrong? thank sorry did not mean to thread jack

shew, alot of people are having this problem. I am as well. I thought it was my o2, and I changed it, erased the code and ran it for 2 days until the code started appearing again. The whole time I was running the car without the code showing, the car still had the same problem with hesitation, bogging, very weird idle rev's when I am not on the gas. It is weird, I am going to go to auto zone today to see what code I am throwing now. My problem only started occuring after I did my cat back exhaust out of 2 1/4 piping as well. THis is a strange problem.
