Service, ABS, Trac Off lights all on.
Tuesday, April 19, 2005 2:40 PM
I need some advice. I have a 2002 Cavalier. I had my struts replaced about 1 week ago and now I am having some problems. On saturday night I started my car and the service, abs, and trac off lighst were all on. When I saw this I shut my car off and when I restarted it they were gone. They stayed off until monday night and I did the same thing and they turned off again. They came back on this morning too. Another thing it is doing is the low trac light will come on randomly and my car feels like it's slowing it self down. Does anyone know what could be causing this? Is there a chance they meesed something up while installing the struts? Where should I look? What should I look for?
Thanks

Sounds like an ABS sensor is loose.

Forgot to add, clean the contacts in the sensors to, might be dirt or something in there.

Your speed sensors are little magnets that use their field to determine how fast your wheel is spinning. Since your hub assembly and sensors are separate units (unlike most other cars) I'm very doubtful that it's your hub (wheel bearings). The sensors are small enough to fit in your pocket and they LOVE to go bad. Magnetism wears out, dirt, road and weather conditions, rocks, ect. To find out what side its you'll have to take it to a shop with a diagnostics computer. My car was doing the exact same thing all winter and I just replaced my front dr. side (the one that was bad) and it's all better!!!! HOPE THIS HELPS!

Officer: Do you know how fast you were going??
Me: Fast enough to get you to put down the coffee and doughnut!
Officer: (scowls)
Me: great, now I'm REALLY gonna get a ticket huh?

well update.
i would love to bring it to a shop (i actually) have an appointment but the only problem is that these lights come on randomly and once you shut the car off they dont come on for another day. its really hard for me to plan for the lights to come on when i am there. i did bring it to the place that did the struts and when they ran it for codes nothing came up. they did say they adjusted something but my wife doesn't remember what they said. This was on thursday afternoon and they light has not come since then.(its saturday) I wonder if they fixed it.

It should have stored codes, so they should be able to pull codes on or off.

Gm is the only one who can pull a ABS code off our cars. Our computers are really picky like that.

an actual chevy dealer told me that unless the light is on no codes will come on. its only stores certain codes. but like i said the light has not come on since the other place made an adjutment to something. that was thursday morning it is now saturday night.
weird huh?

I've got one question why does every one trust the dealer?
