I am planning on rebuilding my engine and transmission on my 2.2 97 cavy, i have 150k miles on it and i was just wondering what all i should get new when i get them rebuilt can anyone help!!!!!
If you dont know what you should get new, you shouldnt be rebuilding an engine. Most people who know how to rebuild engines like me already know what needs to be replaced before they even begin teardown.

GETTING ENGINE REBUILT BY PROFESSIONAL.........WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS NEEDED TO BYE THAT MAY GO OUT AFTER I GET ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION REBUILD
Why not help the guy out some instead of critisize him? He asked a simple question, you could have easily ignored this and not replied.
Alright fine, wasnt sure as you didnt say so in the beginning.
ALL seals and gaskets, main bearings and rod bearings, piston rings as well. Have them inspect the crank to see if it still within spec. Valves and valve guides, and valve seats, sometimes valves can be machined, sometimes not, have them redo the valve guides and most likely valve seats, you might as well get new valve springs while your in there wont be to much more.
Normally the connecting rod itself doesnt get replaced, neither does the actual piston, sometimes though the wrist pin does sometimes not, inspection is needed.
Also the cylinder need to be honed and checked for out of round.
Cylinder head needs to be checked for warpage.
With the timing chain, inspection is the only way to tell, most likely since its coming off anyways you should get it done.
hope it helps you out

just make sure the shop is send the engine to be checked over. They will vaccum test your vavles and check other parts for wear.
