They are basically saying Shell is the best, well last year there was an article in the news paper about how people were complaining about there fuel gage not reading properly and all of them used Shell gas also they had it checked out and all the people got told that the Shell gas was causing it that they used aditives that gum up the sensors and what not, anyways Shell did not wanna pay for the repairs of these cars so all they did was gave them a coupon for money off there next refill, so Shell @!#$ up and they didnt care to pay for it, i used to use Shell but since then i have stoped and switched to Esso, also i clean my throtle body about once every 3 months when i used Shell gas it was always gummed up and black and since i switched to Esso in 3 months the throtle body is not dirty at all and does not need to be cleaned, so i think this @!#$ is a crock and hence what the site address is "ALL HYPE Makers"

Well I just use whatever gas station is nearby when the low fuel light pops on. After time the TB will get gummed no matter what ags you use.

Thanks,

How do you explain the TB gumming up because of the gas when gas is put in downstream of the the TB?

Oil from the PCV valve is what causes the TB to gum up.

Can it hurt gas mileage?

Thanks,

I was going to say that ^

Yea, we don't have TBI... At least most of us. I clean my TB twice a year, no matter what. Some Carb cleaner works wonders.

I have to agree with 1QUICKJ .

At first I was using Shell too, and my gauge would tripp it would give faulty gas readings, another thing I noticed was I was getting less MPG.
Since I switched from Shell I get around 300 miles a tank on an 2002 Ecotec (automatic), that is highway and city combined.

Thank You Jasko F, and as for the gas and the throtle body i heard that blow by from gas and oil end up there if that is true then the gas has to do with it getting dirty all the time im sure there will be gas fumes there like gasses from the gas and that can cause it to gum up

gas fumes are sucked into your cylinders by the vacuum created upon downstroke, and woudn't have any effect. As far as any blow-by, that goes out your exhaust after combustion (your intake valves are closed, so it can't get in your intake). If you had a fat turbine blocking your exhaust path, we could talk about all of this differently because of the reversion.

If you have blowby, then the unburt fuel would recirculate up through the pcv valve and back into the intake. How you relate that to what kind of gas you use, I dunno.
