I just got myself a 1999 Z24 about 6 days ago, I haven't had it checked out yet cuz my mechanic is busy and he'll take a look at it on friday. But til then I got a question for u guys.
I replaced the stock 6 x 9's with a pair of Pioneers about 5 days ago, and now the stock cd player is dimming . I don't believe that it is the new speakers, well I don't WANT to believe that it's the speaker but when I got up to go to skool today the battery was all but dead.
I made sure that I had not forgotten any lights and @!#$ like that, but my fog light switch was on, but the light don't work, anyways. I really don't know where to start, Iono fif it's the alternator dying out, if there's a wiring problem or what else, but my old '94 Z22 never had this problem.
Well, i went out and bought a new battery because the other one was dead, but when i went to put it in there was a little spark the jump to the negative line, while the car was off. I don't think it is my speaker wiring because, i took them out and put all the power to the front speakers and the clock still dimmed.
BTW the only thing that dimmed while the car was running is the radio clock, all the lights are fine.
And i was wondering do the radios have a sound / speed setting. Cuz I swear to GOD the faster I go the louder the music gets and vice versa.
Thanx for the help
its your alternator.. the faster you rev the engine, the more volts get put back to the battery..therefore, your radio is running on whatever voltage it can get.. the alternator isnt charging the battery back up like it is supposed to efficiently.. therefore, replace the alternator..to me, sounds like the voltage regulator or the coil inside the alternator is shot..
what about the shorting out. Doesnt that have anythign to do with it
GM does have a feature on some radios that get louder the faster you go. It reads engine rpms and uses that to adjust the volume.

My car has that.
It works well, except for when you get on the highway it goes to loud almost.
