Transmission fluid change?

i have an 03 sunfire...i noticed that there is no dipstick for the tranny fluid. why? and how am i supposed to check the fluid level? thanx for any help!

do you have a manual? if so you realy dont need to worry about checking levels.

Looking at your profile, you most likely have the 4 speed auto transmission, which does not have a dipstick to check the fluid with. The prodecure is quite complicated to do, and should only be done if you suspect a fluid leak, or if the fluid is replaced. I would also recommend having a shop check the fluid level...

Back to the topic question, trans fluid change?

Yes, GM is very ignorant in there standing that the trans fluid is for life, it isnt, none of the fluids are.

If you want my advice every 3-4k change the oil, every 25-30k change the coolant, and every 30k change the trans, every 50k the brake and power steering.

I will follow thta schedule because overtime fluids break down.

New Dexron VI coming out this summer, multi viscosity transmission fluid, about time.
