Hey guys, here's the problem- I've noticed just within the past couple of days that when I brake lightly there is a "thud"-ing noise coming from the front end somewhere. it is obviously one of the wheels because it starts fast, and slows down as the wheels slow. under heavy braking it does not do this, just light to moderate pressure will produce this sound. I'm thinking warped rotor, but I'm hoping not. Has anyone run into this before, or have any ideas about what might be causing/how to fix it? Thanks.
is there a vibration when braking? because thats the usual sign of a warped rotor.... if not i have no idea..

With the thud there is the slightest feedback in the brake pedal. It doesn't pull either way, so it's not grabbing or anything. But it definately feels and sounds like something odd with the rotor. Could it possibly be a brake PAD issue? I've heard j-bodies are notorious for the cheap brake components. I bought it with 38k miles on it, and I don't know if they've ever been serviced. They work well, this is the first problem of any sort I've had in that department, but it just struck me to ask if it could be something to do with that.
With 38,000 miles on the car I'd vote for a possibly warped brake rotor that either needs replaced or turned down. I know I need new/turned down rotors the front of my 97, they vibrate a bit under breaking but right now I'm dealing with power steering pump issues so would like to get that fixed before diving into anything else. hehe
