Manual Tranny and Synthetic Oil

For a 2002 cavalier what manual transmission fluid/gear oil should I use. When I first got my vehicle it had that stupid rattling sound at low rpms and they had to put a different gear oil in. What is a good type to put in? Next question, synthetic oil...has anybody really seen a difference in using Synthetic? I use synthetic just wondering if anybody has ever seen a difference.

Your car calls for Dexron III/Mercon AF fluid. I'd say full with a high end synthetic ATF fluid of the game grade.
