how do you get the filter off if the little plastic clips are broken??
"There is no point in looking fast if your not."
you mean that black clip....if so ........very carefully..........if it has never been changed before then it should have the original filter? correct?......you might be able to get a special clip retaining tool for it.....if it has been replaced then it might be more difficult.......if it was replaced with an AcDelco then there is a shoulder on the side of the filter with the clip........if thats the case you might have to surgically remove it somehow like cutting that end of the filter off and getting that tool in there...reason i say that is because that shoulder on the filter really screws ya and you cant really get anything in there...im just speaking from experience .....anyone wanaa back me up on that....or have a diff. approach
not sure I have an 01 and I believe the original filter, I can't figure out which connector to unplug to releive the fuel pressure.
wut shoulder are u talking about??.. just get a 16mm and like a 20mm hold bolt turn the one on the line not the filter.. get that lose.. then use the tool to unclip the black clip wut shoulder??
My friends 96 fire was a Beotch to do the shoulder hes refering to (I think anyways) its on the send line opposite side of the nut side or you can say the right side..
You can buy the quick disconnects from autozone( I wouldn't reccomend they don't fit right)
O rielys has them also its a 3/8ths if I'm not mistaken..(also ALOT of filters have little plastic clips you hold down and literally slide off the filter such as mines)
If that fails cut it off with a pipe cutter or something similar.. I ended up having to literally hacksaw off my buddies filter fater 5 hours of fooling with it.. good thing I'm still alive to talk about it (I wouldn't reccomend my route!) If you have to take it off other ways besides the right way you can yank it off there is a little circular clip inside the filter right side end it has 4 "clips" around it but down side is if you damage it you have to get it from the dealer autozoen doesn't carry them and its like 5 bucks from GM.. Can't recall the name for it thou.
As far as the pressure issue just crack the nut gas will come out anyway you do it.. its not alot of pressure or anything just don't change it after you get done driving i.e. GAS+HEAT=time to meet jesus
Red as far as broken clips you MAY be able to stick a very thin needle nose in there or couple of small flat tips to release those clips on the fuel line itself
beer is like a chick.. well not really its just beer, it be cool thou huh?
i work at a dealership.. i bought one AC delco.. u pop the blue clip that comes on it and pop it in the black clip on the fuel line
Brandon how do your techs get those filter's off. One of the guys helped me with my fiance's 99. He took it off with his bare hands. I just stood there dumbfounded.
Relieve fuel pressure:
1. Start engine
2. Pull fuel pump relay (in engine compartment fuse panel)
3. Engine dies from lack of fuel pressure
Ta da!

yep that little plastic thing is a bitch to take off, took me an hour to figure it out. It had a lot of dirt in between the clip and the line. If its broken their is kit to replace that part of the line. Why couldn't they use something better than a plastic clip, Who knows.
