I know i'm asking alot of questions lately, but there really is a purpose...really. I'm a commie spy and I want to know about your j-bodies....er, never mind.
Seriously though- I'm trying to find out exactly how much work I'm looking at when I do my engine swap and while I was going over some possible difficulties with my dad (he's an old school Chevy small block guy, so he's full of reasons why he wouldn't be able to help me with this "advanced engine") he brought up the question of priming the injectors once the motor is in. My question is- is there a way to do this myself (other than just burning up the starter until it catches), or is this something I'd have to break down and let a shop do for me? I appreciate any input.

Now I can see why you have all kind of question about timming and everything. those "advance engine" don't need anything like that. You turn the key to the ON position, you leave it like that and listen to the fuel pump. it should run for 2 second. then start the car and voila!
no need to "prime" the injectors. and injector is a selenoid and the fuel pump build the pressure so it just need to fire.
before you ask too, no you don't need to adjust the idle, you don't need to check the AF ratio.

You could also turn the key off and on a few times for a few seconds just to make sure before you start it. This will bleed any air out of the system.
I'll usually cycle the pump three times after doing a fuel filter. Starts right up after the third time.
Awesome, that's exactly what I was hoping you guys would say. Thanks for the input!
