Hey guys, my timing chain broke about a month ago but I had it replaced already. I'm pretty sure I aligned those cranks just like the book said. After I put everything back the car turned on fine, but now when I'm at a light, the car stalls a little occasionally and sometimes turns off on me. Also, when I accelerate hard, the car stalls and then picks up. Is there something I have to do with the timing? I have a 96 2.2 with 93,000 miles.
If the timing chain was mis-aligned even one sprocket tooth
you'd immediately notice a definite loss in power.
The other symptoms could be almost anything, like
condensation in the gasoline. Who knows.
There is no loss of power in my car. The only thing is the stall it does when I'm at a light or when I accelerate.
Danny, your profile shows that you have a beautiful
96 Cavalier that you've spent lots to improve !
I think the current problem (which I hope you find quickly)
is just a simple fuel starvation thing.
I'm going to bet you figure it out !
