throttle position sensor voltage not consistant
Tuesday, May 17, 2005 8:30 PM
well my TPS sensor voltage is constantly changing itself almost everytime i start the car. i wouldnt have noticed anything but my e-manage partly runs off the TPS sensor and i constantly need to reconfigure it to work properly.

i wouldnt be complaining on this alone, but the lower the voltage for the sensor (as low as .2 to .8 at WOT) will cause the car to hesitate upon throttle positon. for example if the throttle was opened roughly 10-20% the the map is seeing less vacuum but the car isn't accelerating at all until i give more gas.

i'm thinking the sensor is bad or the e-manage splice has gone wrong. just today the idle was 1.5 volts and full throttle was seeing near 2.8. so i cant really imagine the emanage is doing anything.

btw what is the PROPER operating voltage of the throttle position sensor? or is it suppose to vary depending on how it feels during the day

Well I have worked on many cars, usually at idle 0.7, and at WOT 4.1 volts.

First thing I'd do since you know the sensor isnt working right is replace it.
