I have searched this forum but nothing has come up. I have a 2000 Sunfire GT (2.4 Quad) that recently developped a ticking sound that was coming from the timing chain. It ended up being the tensioner and got it replaced along with the timing chain. Once the car was started, it ran real rough and would stall after a few minutes. We checked for any loose wires/vacuum hoses but nothing seemed to be loose or disconnected. The car has a cel on and I pulled codes P0105, P0172, P0300. I know what these codes are pointing to but cannot determine the cause at this point. If anyone has suffered a similar experience I would appreciate any ideas you guys/girls have to offer.
Most likely if this started right after you did the timing chain something was done right.
Could be the chain is off by one tooth.

I will have to check the timing if all else fails, but what I wanted to know is if the timing is off, why would I get these other codes and ample power after 2000rpms? I am going to test the voltage at the MAP sensor but would like to know where it is located in the 2.4 and what it looks like. Thanks again.
Well it turns out it was the timing that was causing it to run rough. The timing was dead on when it was put back together, but the timing chain tensioner was faulty and was not holding any pressure. This is just an FYI for anyone else that runs into this issue.
